What Peter Hess Sound Massage is

To put it simply, above all it is the sound and vibrations of singing bowls positioned with care on the dressed body. Gentle and harmonious sounds are absorbed and as a result the client is quickly able to achieve a state of deep relaxation. Besides that, the rhythmic sounds saturate the body and produce a subtle vibration which is a kind of a “massage” element.

During a sound massage, an atmosphere of safety and security is created, making it possible to let go – release stress, anxiety, worry, doubt and feelings that have a negative impact on our health.

In this soothing atmosphere, we can come in contact with our needs, our “inner wisdom”. We experience our bodies in a comforting sense.  It may take a long time for the first truth to be realised. The often-circular thoughts come to rest and our soul gains room for development. These are the key aspects of healthcare in a holistic sense. They are the basis for the design of a happy, independent and creative life.

Key characteristics

Many decades of practical experience can be summarised in the following active features of the sound massage:

  • Holistic approach – addresses Body, Mind and Spirit

  • Creates basis for effortless, deep relaxation

  • Strengthens the original trust and confidence in people

  • Facilitates the release

  • Contributes to health promotion via harmonisation, regeneration and revitalisation

  • Supports and improves body awareness

  • Allows access to and use of our own resources

  • Strengthens self-confidence, creativity and motivation

  • Custom designed sound bowls provide extensive sound range with multiple overtones

  • Harmonic, and natural acoustic sounds of Peter Hess® Therapy quality sound bowls

The effects of the sounds are very complex. Even if the method at first glance appears simple, its use requires substantial knowledge about the effects of sound. Furthermore, only this knowledge and our self-experience allows to apply them individually, selectively and safely, for the benefit of the client.

KliK® Sound Education
KliK ® is a registered tra
demark developed in Germany by Emily Hess and stands for Klingende Kommunikation = Sounding Communication

The training as a KliK® Practitioner is aimed at all interested, committed people, parents, grandparents, educational and therapeutic professionals who want to use Singing Bowls and sound elements to help children with the challenges in their lives. Knowledge and sound elements are conveyed in a relaxed, playful atmosphere which is also beneficial for your own wellbeing. The sound games and exercises taught can enrich everyday routines and play activities. They can be used with individuals as well as groups for sensory, cognitive and emotional support.

Through the physical vibration of the Singing Bowl vibro-tactile stimuli are set, which can be used for specific purposes i.e. to promote external and internal perception. In addition, the harmonic sounds provide an auditory stimulus that is both relaxing and stress reducing. This promotes ideal conditions for focus and attention which helps with successful reception and application of learning content. Therefore, the medium of Singing Bowls as part of the "Sound Education with Children" offers a holistic approach at all levels.

The KliK® program is becoming increasingly popular in day-care centres and schools around the world. Singing Bowls are already available in many institutions and the desire for effective application of them is growing.

Sound Bath Facilitator

  • As a Sound Bath Facilitator, I use musical instruments in a safe space to create calm between the body and the mind, by way of Music Therapy and the use of Passive Music Intervention.

  • From a neuroscience perspective, passive and active music activities differ in the parts of the brain. Listening to music engages subcortical and cortical areas of the brain, including the amygdala, thalamus, left and right primary auditory cortex.

  • Music and sound, help with people with Autism and ADHD, as it helps them feel calm and safe. It improves their increased understanding of their emotions and allows them to develop their self and social awareness.
